Act 3:3  When he noticed Peter and John going into the temple, he begged them for money.

Act 3:5  Expecting a gift, he readily gave them his attention.

The man at the gate had settled into his daily routine. “Alms for the poor” was all he asked for. Could there be anything more? All he could expect was alms.

Unbeknownst to him, things have changed since the last time Peter and John passed by the temple. A man called Jesus had died and was resurrected. Things had changed. Peter and John now had something more than gold.

Like Peter and John,  we now have something that can make life beautiful. That man was at a beautiful gate but his life was not. Jesus did not come to whet your appetite. God does not tease us with the beautiful things of life. We are not just sitting around a beautiful possibility without it materializing. He came so that we might have. Have health, walk-in mighty prosperity, take the holiday cruise, live in that beautiful house, and much more.

Christ in us is that hope of glory! Peter spoke of the sufferings of Christ and the glory that will follow. (1 Peter 1:11). God has spoken glorious things concerning you. (Psalm 87:3). Beautiful things have been spoken concerning us. We won’t settle for less. We set our eyes on Jesus and set our hope on the glory.
